We had the luxury of seeing BLANCO’s new Durinox™ stainless steel countertop and sink during a private tour at ACHEO’s showroom during our recent trip to Milan’s EuroCucina 2014. Nestled in the heart of Milan’s Brera design district, our design council enjoyed fine wine, fabulous cuisine, and a close look at the engineering feats of Blanco. It is our privilege to serve on the Blanco Design Council, and Ken and I were honored to have been sponsored for this design-filled trip to Milan.
The new Durinox™ stainless steel surface is from the SteelArt line and is manufactured during a finishing process that has been applied and tested in the aerospace and automobile industries. In comparison with conventional stainless steel countertops, these are on average more than twice as hard, which makes them much more resilient and extremely resistant to scratches and impervious to fingerprints. When I ran my fingers across its elegant surface, it had a velvety-matt finish and a beautiful, timeless aesthetic.
For now, the Durinox™ will be only be available in the US as an under-mount single bowl sink; the countertop is not available in the US yet. However, because of our relationship with the German manufacturer Allmilmo, we can import this product if you choose to use it as part of your kitchen package through Kitchen Designs. Contact Grace for more info.
Ken is shown here with our favorite Culina faucet (now available in a mini) and the fabulous Attika sink — in a double side-by-side. Blanco is generously donating a portion of the proceeds of the Attika to DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS), which ensures that DIFFA has the resources to help HIV/Aids organizations year-round and is able to respond quickly to the needs of the organizations it supports — very admirable indeed!
Thank you to Blanco and ACHEO for a wonderful evening in Italy!
