Kitchen Tips And Tricks for Produce

Tools & Tips

Here are some great kitchen tips and tricks for produce…

How to Keep Salad Crisp: Prepare a week’s worth of salad ahead of time; then, grab a jar and go! This looks wonderful when you open the refrigerator, and it helps you make a healthier food choice.

How to  Slice a Bunch of Cherry Tomatoes in One Pass:  Hold tomatoes firmly between two plastic lids and slice with a sharp knife through the middle opening. This kitchen trick works really well!

How to  Reharvest Green Onions: The next time you have green onions, don’t throw away the white ends. Simply submerge them in a glass of water and place them in a sunny window. Your onions will begin to grow almost immediately and can be harvested almost indefinitely. I love how bringing “fresh” color into the kitchen this way. I’d use a great vase, teapot, or decorative cup instead of a plain glass (see photos below).

Here are a few great containers to reharvest those onions in…

How to Keep a Sliced Apple Fresh (great lunchbox trick):  Slice the apple, reassemble it, and wrap it in a rubberband… brilliant!
