If you love entertaining at home, then bring the party to your place by creating a home bar and game room. If you’re ready to “raise the bar,” here are some things to keep in mind.
Ideally your home bar will have built-ins, a wine cooler, ice maker, refrigerator, electricity, and a sink basin. Some interesting details in this design by Mario Mulea, CR at Kitchen Designs by Ken Kelly, include a back-lit countertop in translucent smokey quartz, a custom ceiling in the same cabinetry as the bar, and two backlit quartz panels that run alongside the glass shelving. This room includes plenty of seating for guests to comfortably linger while socializing. The large screen TV is set above the fireplace where a custom photo remains on the display screen until the big game is televised.
Decorating the space is all part of the fun. Here colorful billiard balls are on view in glass apothecary jars, and an exquisite crystal collection graces the backdrop of the bar. The beveled antique mirror tile backsplash elegantly reflects the room’s rustic color palette. Interior cabinet lighting creates a beautiful effect especially when combined with gorgeous chandeliers, sconces, or pendant lights.
Think about choosing furniture that doubles as seating and possibly sound proofing the area with panels or extra insulation. If there’s room, add a pool table, pingpong table, and darts to keep everyone happily entertained.
As with any home improvement project, your best investment is in good design and planning within your budget. You want to avoid packing too much into the square footage available, so a good design is essential to avoid overwhelming a smaller space.
