Kitchen Designs by Ken Kelly designed this unique Great Neck custom kitchen in Long Island, New York with with purple and grey hues that are artistically weathered. The kitchen design accommodates both the weekly needs of the family and the weekend crowds. The color is unique and completely custom. Its inspiration began when the client brought in a marble tile sample and a countertop piece with purple and grey hues and requested that the cabinetry look “artfully weathered.” The door style is a beaded inset, recessed panel with applied moldings, exposed barrel hinges, and pewter hardware. For this Long Island kitchen renovation in Great Neck, NY, we worked with Bentwood cabinetry to create the perfect painted and glazed finish, which is catalyzed and then baked for durability.
The custom refrigerator has remarkable detailing. When you open the doors, the entire refrigerator panel curves into the top moulding. There is also valence detail on the bottom to accommodate the freezer drawer. The edges of the side cupboards are chamfered. The molding elegantly fits the depth of the profile and the arch at the top. We made custom unfinished mitered molding for the drop beams connecting the den to the kitchen so that both sides mimic each other and unify the space.
The Wolf appliances are a food connoisseur’s dream comes true, and the coffee maker is Miele. Hockey puck lights behind glass add a soft elegance to the upper cabinets. The spice pullout legs on each side of the range were made a little wider, to accommodate larger oils a cooking spays. No detail was overlooked, from the furniture-base toe valences to the multi piece crown mouldings.
The island houses two dishwashers–one full size and one smaller single drawer pullout, garbage/recycle bins, a farm sink, and a second Wolf oven. Custom inserts such as tray dividers, roll outs, and dish pegs allow for maximum organization.
