Beautiful Kitchen Paint Colors
Now that you have a gorgeous Ken Kelly kitchen installed, it is time to pick some beautiful kitchen paint colors. Your visit to the paint store can be daunting when you see how many dazzling rows of paint color choices there are. At this point, you may run to seek the expertise of a professionally trained designer, or you may decide to tackle the project on your own.
Our best advice comes from Mario, a kitchen designer at Kitchen Designs by Ken Kelly, who is also a quilter and color expert. Mario says, “There are so many resources to gain inspiration from. The major paint companies have websites, inspiration photos, and apps that can help you visualize what your room will look like in a particular color.” It is always a good idea to buy small pots of paint as test samples. Grab a few kitchen paint colors you like, or try some of our suggestions for 2020 kitchen paint colors below.
Sample Kitchen Paint Colors
You can paint the samples right on your wall to test, or you can pick up a few larger sheets of poster board and paint your samples directly on the poster board. Paint (or place) the samples in various locations in the room as paint is light reflective and will look different depending on the lighting in your space. For rich colors, use a primer and make sure your lighting is in place as paint colors will look different under different lighting conditions. Be sure to check how it looks both during the daylight and in the evening to be sure you love it.
Whatever you do, don’t rely on the chip you see in the paint store or the way the color appears on your computer monitor when browsing Pinterest or Instagram. Those images are not a true reflection of what the color might look like in your home. The great news is paint is easy to change. When trying colors, look for tones that blend with your fabric or backsplash tile and also consider surrounding room colors to make the entire palette work cohesively together.
Kitchen Ceiling, Trim Paint Colors, and Neutral Walls
Designers’ go-to neutral ceiling and trim colors for kitchens are: Benjamin Moore OC-17 White Dove; Benjamin Moore OC-53 Horizon; Benjamin Moore Decorators White; Benjamin Moore 925 Ivory White. Note: Use flat on the ceiling and semi gloss on the trim. For the walls, we like a flat finish because it renders a truer color, but an eggshell finish also works nicely, especially in high traffic areas.
