Our Favorite BBQ Sauces!
Are you going to be grilling up some treats for Father’s Day? Choosing the perfect BBQ sauces can make or break your ribs, and the perfect blend of smoky, tangy, and sweet can be hard to come by. Even though we’re New Yorkers, we know a thing or two about grilling Southern-style comfort food.
Dads… if you need a crowd-pleasing marinade for the summer, we’ve got you covered with these surefire BBQ sauces (which you can find in many of your local stores, as well as on Amazon – Note: Kitchen Designs is compensated if you make a purchase using links we share in this post):
Korean We Rub You Sauce: This sauce has a spicy kick to it and is slightly sweet — definitely addicting. It has no preservatives or MSG and is gluten free.
Boozy Bacon BBQ Sauce: If you like a thick sauce, this one’s for you and it has real bacon bits, onions, spices, and a dash of bourbon — perfect for ribs and beef.
Big Butz: Don’t let the silly name and low-key packaging fool you; this sauce has some serious fans. It’s sweet enough for kids with a mild zing that families are sure to enjoy.
Dinosaur BBQ: You may have heard of Dinosaur BBQ, which started in New York and has several tri-state locations. We love their Sensuous Slathering Sauce for its perfect blend of sweet, tangy and just a little spicy. It’s also made of all natural ingredients and gluten free.
Bone Suckin’ Sauce: Awarded the “Best in Barbeque” by Health Magazine, this tomato (and molasses) based sauce is from North Carolina. Its natural ingredients list is unique—apple cider vinegar, honey, and lemon juice to name a few – but the sauce comes together in a delicious blend that will have you smacking your lips.
Stubb’s BBQ: Not too sweet and not too spicy, Goldilocks (and Texans) would call this sauce “just right.” Moms will love the lower-sugar count on the label, and kids will love its classic taste. This sauce can be found in a lot of local stores for a very reasonable price.
Trader Joe’s Kansas City Style BBQ Sauce: This sauce has a little more zing than the others, so lightweights beware! This sauce is vinegary and tangy, with a touch of sweetness, but is an easy and convenient sauce to pick up the next time you visit TJ’s.
Sweet Baby Ray’s: They aren’t incorrect when they say, “Our sauce is the boss!” Thicker and sweeter than some of the others on this list, you can’t go wrong when you add this sauce to your favorite pulled pork recipe. Although it’s the most inexpensive sauce on the list, it delivers the same amount of savory flavor that BBQ fans love.
